Why I Chose the Name Mitrang and Built mitrang.com
In 2009, I found myself at a turning point. Filmmaking was, and still is, my passion, but I also had to be realistic. The film market in Manipur was small, and I wanted a career that could match my ambitions while still keeping creativity at the center. I wasn’t leaving film behind—I was looking for a new venture where creativity could also become a reliable source of income.
With my background in programming and multimedia, I was quite sure the digital world was the right path. Web design and development gave me the perfect balance of creativity and technology. That year, I built my first site—an experiment that opened my eyes to the possibilities of creating for a global audience. Unlike film, which was tied to a local industry, the web felt boundless.
It was during this time that the name Mitrang came to me.
In Manipuri, Mitrang roughly means magic. It felt like the right word because that’s exactly what the web seemed to me—taking an idea from imagination and turning it into something real on the screen. In March 2010, I booked the domain mitrang.com, planting the seed for what would eventually become my company.
What started as curiosity quickly grew into a vision. Mitrang became more than a name; it became a platform where creativity and technology could meet to solve problems, tell stories, and build identities. From the early days of serving clients in Manipur to working with businesses across India and later internationally, the mission remained the same: to bring a touch of magic to every project.
Looking back, I see that Mitrang was never about abandoning film. It was about expanding the ways I could create. Film gave me storytelling. Programming gave me logic. Multimedia gave me tools. Together, they gave me the confidence to build something that could stand on its own.
Today, as Mitrang grows toward a global vision, I still carry that original excitement from 2009—the belief that creativity, when combined with the right tools, can reach anywhere. What started with a single website and a dream continues to evolve, and the magic of Mitrang is far from over.
